Yonkers resident Jose Pabellon, 34, and Bronx resident Valentina Longhi, 25, have been indicted and arraigned on charges that date back to an incident in Yonkers in July that left a man in need of emergency surgery following a stabbing and beating.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., said that at approximately 2 p.m. on July 31, Pabellon got into an argument with a stranger on Morris Street in Yonkers. At the time of the argument, Longhi was with Pabellon.
It is alleged that Pabellon chased his victim with a knife and attempted to stab him. The victim blocked the knife with his hand and was wounded, suffering a “severe laceration.” He then allegedly beat his victim into unconsciousness.
Longhi allegedly then picked up the knife and attempted to hide it nearby, before the two fled the scene.
Scarpino said that the victim sustained nerve and artery damage to his hand, which required surgery. He also suffered multiple broken bones to his face. Pabellon was arrested at an area hospital when he sought medical attention for an injury sustained during the fight. After being indicted, Longhi surrendered herself to police.
Pabellon was charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was released following his arraignment on $50,000 bond. Longhi was charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence. She was released on her own recognizance.
Following their arraignment, both were scheduled to appear back in court on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
